Accused killer takes stand in trial

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

The homicide trial of Richard “Dickie” Leroy Henry Jr. of Vanderbilt entered a third day on Wednesday, and Henry took the stand in his own defense. Henry is facing homicide charges for the death of Eric Todd Fetsco, 38, who died following an altercation at an apartment in Vanderbilt on April 18, 2009.

Henry testified that he went to the party and was attacked by Fetsco shortly after he got through the door and he had no other option but to fight back.

Assistant District Attorney Doug Sepic is seeking a conviction of either third degree murder, involuntary manslaughter or voluntary manslaughter and defense attorney Brent Peck is seeking a not guilty verdict on the grounds that Henry acted in self-defense.

The defense rested its case Wednesday morning and rebuttal prosecution witnesses are expected to take the stand on Wednesday afternoon.
