Uniontown police said a man wanted for assaulting a woman at her home in late July turned himself in to police Wednesday night. Officer Dave Hromada said Homer A. “Buddy” Utterback, 43, of 277 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown was charged by Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

Hromada said Metros issued a warrant for Utterback after he allegedly assaulted Wendy Baker, 38, at her home on North Gallatin Avenue at 1:32 p.m. July 27.

Baker told police that Utterback became enraged with her when she asked him to accompany her to Metros’ office in Uniontown and began to physically assault her, Hromada said.

Hromada said Utterback repeatedly punched Baker in the face until she lost consciousness. When she came to, Baker told police that Utterback was standing over her holding a blood-soaked rag. Hromada said Baker scrambled to her feet and fled to a neighbor’s home, where she called her son.

Baker was treated at Uniontown Hospital for injuries to her eyes, cheeks and nose. Hromada said that additional tests will be conducted to determine if any facial bones were fractured.

Following his arraignment, Utterback was released on $25,000 unsecured bond.

A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Metros.
