Car show and hog roast
Masontown news The McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Deptartment and the Summit Mountain Early Iron Car Club will sponsor its 39th annual Old Fashion Car Show and hog roast on Sept. 12. This is the longest running car show in Fayette County.
The activities begin at 11 a.m., rain or shine, at the firemen’s field in McClellandtown. Registration is by donation and the first 250 cars will receive a dash plaque. There is no admission fee for spectators. There will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing and a children’s coloring contest.
A variety of food and refreshments, including the “hog” sandwich will be available.
Oldies music will be provided by Joe’s Dusty Disc. Proceeds from the event will benefit the fire department and the car club. Vendors for vehicle parts and accessories only are invited. For additional information, call 724-737-5987 or 724-737-5010.
Annual bazaar
St. Mary’s Church in Leckrone will celebrate a Polka Mass today at 10 a.m., followed by the annual bazaar with activities from noon until 10 p.m. Everyone is invited to purchase perogies, holupki, haluski, breaded chicken or a selection from the sandwich menu. Participants can enjoy games, raffles, bingo, funnel cakes, ice cream sundaes, apple dumplings or fudge brownies delight and much more. Come and relax under the tent and visit with your neighbors while listening to music.
St. Mary’s is located on Leckrone-High House Road, about two miles off Route 21, east of Masontown. Turn off Route 21 at the Detweiler/Sweet Pea’s stoplight.
Live pro-wrestling
KCWE Wrestling presents live pro-wrestling on Saturday at the McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Department fair grounds.
Included in the show will be a steel cage main event, tag team championship with Lightning and J-RU vs. The Bloodline. A stretcher match, the KCWE title match features Zubon vs. Flex Lee. A special attraction will have Lord Zoltan vs. Doink the Clown. Events on the card are subject to change.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The doors will open at 5 p.m. with bell time at 6 p.m.

Picnic in the park
The Friends of the German-Masontown Library will hold its annual picnic in the park at noon on Aug. 9.
Each person attending should bring his or her own place setting and beverage. Many members have already signed up for what dish they are bringing to the picnic. If you have not yet done so, contact Donna Parish at 724-583-2812 and she will add your contribution to the list.
Anyone wishing to play bingo should bring a wrapped $1 prize.
Golf outing
All Saints Regional School will hold its 2010 annual golf outing on Sept. 25 at Rohanna’s Golf Course, Waynesburg. The cost is $85 per golfer. This includes 18 holes of golf and cart, green fees, course refreshments, continental breakfast, lunch and buffet dinner that features sliced roast beef, lemon pepper cod, stuffed chicken breast, potatoes, vegetable, salad and dessert. The dinner-only option is $25.
There will be cash prizes for the top three teams and skill prizes, for men and women, which include Tom-Tom GPS Navigation System, Sony Blu-Ray Player and Apple I-Pod Nano.
Proceeds from this event help with the school’s operating budget, help to keep the price of tuition affordable for all and allow for a few extra benefits for the students.

Masontown Senior Center
Are you hungry for a good meal without spending a small fortune? The Masontown Senior Center is inviting anyone 60 or over to come and check out a wide variety of food for a suggested $2 donation. They also offer many activities. Come learn the Wii and shock your grandchildren.
