Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) has planned numerous activities, including a learning booth for young visitors and an educational display on food myths, along with information on a wide variety of agricultural issues as part of Ag Progress Days, which takes place Aug. 17-19. PFB’s exhibit building is located at Penn State’s Russell E. Larson Ag Research Center at East Fifth and Main streets on the Ag Progress Days grounds in Rock Springs.

PFB’s Ag Progress Days exhibit hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 17; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 18; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 19.

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization with a volunteer membership of more than 50,000 farm and rural families, representing farms of every size and commodity across Pennsylvania. Activities at PFB’s exhibit building at Ag Progress Days will include the following:

n Governmental affairs and communications: Pennsylvania Farm Bureau staff will be on hand to provide information, handouts and answer questions on current issues impacting state agriculture, including issues such as proposed regulations related to Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts, Marcellus Shale development and the latest on farm truck driver regulations.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to talk about the legislative agenda, regulatory questions and opportunities that help farmers improve their bottom line.

n MSC business services: Farm Management Service account supervisors will be available to discuss the many business services available through PFB including recordkeeping, tax planning and preparation; farm accounting software and computer leasing; and a no-hassle payroll service that takes the headaches out of payroll preparation.

n Friends of Agriculture Foundation: The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation will host a learning booth for young visitors. Children will learn more about grain crops grown on Pennsylvania farms through games and a fun, interactive exercise. Each participant will receive a prize.

n Young farmer and rancher: Members of the State Young Farmer & Rancher Committee will be on hand to discuss the leadership development and fellowship opportunities available to young farm families through YF&R programs.

n Women’s Leadership Committee: An educational display on food myths will be featured at the Women’s Leadership Committee booth.

n Health Insurance: A PFB Health Services representative will be on hand with information on group health care insurance available to members and associate members.
