Melva Keener Wilson, 90, of Greensboro, Pa., passed away quietly on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the Assisted Living at Evergreen in Waynesburg, Pa., where she had resided for the past year. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born April 29, 1920, a daughter of the late Ira M. and Nannie Kiger Keener, Sr. A member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Dilliner, she was well known in the region for her skill as a seamstress, and the beautiful work that she continued to do until just the past few months. Many times she commented that she thought over the years “she had sewn or repaired something for nearly everyone in Greene County!”

Surviving are her loving children and their spouses, Charles D. and Lois Wilson, and Linda and Ron Brumley, all of Greensboro, and Shirley and Joe Ross of Washington, Pa.; seven grandchildren; Amy Leiberger, Jeff Wilson, Ronnie Brumley, Greg Brumley, Sherry Swartz, Lisa Snyder and Doug Ross; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ira “Sonny” Keener, Jr. and his wife Katie of Taylortown, Pa.; and two special nieces, Lois Dieson and Sharon Summers.

Her husband of nearly 57 years, Orval J. Wilson, passed away on July 12, 1995. Also deceased is a son, James M. Wilson in 1963, a sister, Mildred Donley, and brothers, Roy and Emmitt Keener.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday until 11:00 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. Kenneth Haines and Rev. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment follows in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner, Pa.
