Uniontown woman faces multiple charges

By Rebekah Sungala 2 min read

A local woman faces multiple charges after she ran from police following an incident in Uniontown Tuesday afternoon. State police Trooper Christopher T. Cole said Alaisha M. Snyder, 20, of Uniontown was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, obstructing justice and refusing to move/obstruction of a road.

According to Cole, the incident occurred at 1:12 p.m. when Snyder allegedly refused to move away from a vehicle police had initiated a traffic stop on at the intersection of Pershing Avenue and Wayne Street.

Cole said he was assisting Trooper Jeffrey Tihey on the traffic stop and that Snyder began to scream and yell profanities from the sidewalk.

Snyder was instructed to move on and warned that an active police investigation was occurring, Cole indicated, noting that Snyder allegedly refused to heed police commands.

Cole said Snyder elbowed him in the face and slipped away from him as he attempted to handcuff her.

Snyder then ran away, but was caught by Trooper Andrew Reith one block away on North Street, police said.

Snyder was arraigned on the multiple charges before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros and placed in Fayette County Prison after failing to post a $10,000 straight cash bond.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Aug. 24 before Metros.
