UPDATE: Police continue search for remains of Washington County man killed in 2001

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip E. Reilly said today that police have discovered sufficient evidence to initiate an investigation at a site in North Union Township where state police believe the remains of a Monongahela man were buried nine years ago. Investigators continued to arrive at the secluded location off of Brushwood Road throughout the morning where officials were looking for the missing remains of Jerry Lee Cushey who disappeared in October 2001.

Yesterday police charged James Myers, 40, of Connellsville and Ronald Michael Curran, 30, of Elizabeth with criminal homicide in Cushey’s death.

Cushey was 29 when he disappeared from Monongahela on Oct. 12, 2001.

At a press conference yesterday, members of Cushey’s family begged for information about the location of his body.

Investigators said that while police scoured the wooded region off of Brushwood Road, another team of investigators conducted a search at property in Speers in Washington County for additional forensic evidence.
