Library hosts film festival
The Flenniken Public Library announces the second annual Golden Flamingo Film Festival at 1 p.m. Friday. The festival will consist of movies made by the teen summer reading program participants. The teens wrote, produced, acted and edited their own work. Each film has a unique story that reflects the middle school worldview. The Golden Flamingo statuette will be awarded to the winning moviemakers at the end of the screenings.
The public is encouraged to attend and support this creative effort by area youth.
Following the festival, there will be a short program for parents highlighting library resources that deal with school and developmental issues.
A resource sheet will be available, as well as free booklets “Fresh New School Year!” created by KidsHealth and funded by Merck.
The monthly Teen Game Day will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday. Play “Super Smash Brothers Brawl” and other games on the Wii.
The library will provide pizza.
