Thomas Isaac Melvin
Thomas Isaac Melvin, age 58, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010, at his home. He was born September 12, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late Isaac T. Melvin and Mary Frances Barnes Melvin.
He attended elementary and junior high school in Philadelphia, Pa. where he starred on the cross country and track teams and ran in the Penn Relays. His family moved to Brownsville and he graduated from Redstone High School and attended Penn State University-Main Campus for two years, majoring in pre-med biology. He was employed as an Emergency Medical Technician in Philadelphia, Pa., before relocating back to Brownsville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Johnson.
He is survived by a brother, Isaac H. Melvin and his wife Yvonica of Brownsville; a sister, Rev. Dr. Jean Melvin Martin, Esq. and her husband Milton of Burke, Va.; an uncle, William Barnes of Brownsville; four nephews, Isaac D. and Isaiah T. Melvin and Alex and James Johnson; a niece, Rose Johnson; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 3 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Cardale, Pa.
