Two suspects arrested on gun charges

By Jennifer Harr 1 min read

Two Masontown people are in the Fayette County Prison after they allegedly brought a gun into a Georges Township home following a fight early Tuesday. Melinda R. Boyd, 35, and Gary Lynn Brozik, 46, are each charged with recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and for carrying a firearm without a license. Brozik faces an additional charge for not being permitted to possess firearms.

State police Trooper Christopher Hoover alleged that Boyd and Brozik got into a fight with Michael R. Haines, 27, of Smithfield at a home at 137 Sutton Road around 4 a.m.

Boyd and Brozik left, police said, but Boyd forgot something and they went back to the home. Before she walked back to the door, Hoover alleged Boyd grabbed a handgun from the car.

When Haines opened the door, Boyd allegedly waived and pointed the gun at him, and the three got into another fight, police said.

Haines called police after the fight, and Boyd and Brozik went to Uniontown Hospital, where Boyd was treated for a minor injury, Hoover indicated.

Boyd and Brozik were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham and bail was set at $25,000 straight cash for each.
