Connellsville teen charged with having child pornography
A 19-year-old Connellsville man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly was caught with several hundred images of child pornography on his computer. State police said Justin Joseph Porterfield of Apartment 4, 123 W. Apple St., was charged Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. with dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Computer Crime Unit and members of the Connellsville Police Department filed the charges following an investigation earlier this year.
According to police, officers found a computer eventually traced to Porterfield that was sharing files, some of which were identified as child pornography.
Police said that they discovered more than 200 images of child pornography on Porterfield’s computer and 35 videos of child pornography.
During questioning, Porterfield allegedly admitted to downloading the pornographic images of children.
He is free after posting $10,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Haggerty.
