DeYoung earns bachelor’s degree, with high honors
Tech. Sgt. John James DeYoung of Uniontown recently graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with high honors, summa cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics and a minor in management FAA safety certification and aircraft and power plant license. He is the AFOTEC Det 1 F-35 crew chief suitability evaluator at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He serves as subject-matter expert for the F-Q35/136 propulsion system, support equipment ABDR/DECON and general maintenance procedures. He is responsible for building, evaluating and executing test-plan activities and additionally developed and is the primary manager of the DET/unit deployment program.
His academic achievements will be published in the 2010 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He plans to attend the master program in aeronautics this fall and complete 20 years of service with the United States Air Force.
DeYoung was honored in April when he was selected from 40,000 registered students to attend the Wings Club Conference in New York City.
He attended St. John’s Roman Catholic Grade School and graduated from Geibel Catholic High School in 1995. He joined the Air Force in September 1995.
DeYoung and his wife, Danyell, reside in Littlerock, Calif., with their daughter, Kindalle, and son, Jackson. He is a son of Madeline Grego-DeYoung of Uniontown and Dr. Jack DeYoung.
