0005925576-01-1.jpg Donald W. Welc, 70 years, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania died Friday, August 20, 2010 in the F o r b e s Hospice, Pittsburgh. Donald was born on April 19, 1940 son of Joseph Welc and S t e l l a Wisniewski Welc in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
“Don” graduated from the now former Ramsey High School, Class of 1958.
He retired in 1998 from the United States Postal Service as a Superintendent in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
“Don” was a Veteran of the Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and also the Polish Falcons Club both in Mount Pleasant.
He was an avid pool player.
“Don” was a member of Saint John’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Scottdale.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Walter Welc Frank Welc, Joseph Welc, William Welc, Leo Welc and Leonard Welc; and a sister, Bridget Rozell.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie Jae Welc; six children: Kimberly Sirianna and George Sirianna of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania,Debbie McLaughlin and her husband D a r y l e of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Matthew Welc of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Bogesdorfer and wife Linna of Valencia, Pennsylvania, John Bogesdorfer and his wife Kim of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Daniel Bogesdorfer and Melissa Bogesdorfer of Monroeville; seven beloved grandchildren: Christopher Sirianna, Aaron Sirianna, Angela McLaughlin and her fiance Nick Mizikar, Daniel McLaughlin, Brian McLaughlin,Paige Bogesdorfer and Nicklaus Bogesdorfer; great grandchild, Ava Mizikar; his siblings: Stanley Welc and wife Adeline of Michigan, Margaret Zufall of Ohio, Elizabeth Kendi and husband Edward of Mount Pleasant, Josephine Caschera and her husband Remo of Mount Pleasant, Chester Welc and his wife Paula of Hecla, Pennsylvania and Robert “Powders” Welc and his wife Mary Ann of Scottdale, Pennsylvania; and a sister-in-law, Alice Welc of Mount Pleasant.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the B R O O K S FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 East Washington Street, Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania where a Parastas Service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
Divine Liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 525 Porter Avenue, Scottdale, with the Reverend Father John Salko as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. John’s Byzantine Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by Mount Pleasant American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
A Panachida Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 7 p.m.
