Uniontown police investigate assault

1 min read

Uniontown police said a man reported he was jumped while he was walking in the city late Sunday. Officer Jennifer Field said Franklin Straight, 20, of Uniontown told police that he was walking on South Mount Vernon Avenue when two men approached him and asked if he had any money.

Field said that Straight told police that he repeatedly told the men that he did not have any money and continued to walk toward West Main Street.

Field said that the suspects then approached Straight from behind and struck him in the back of the head and in the jaw.

Straight told police that he gave the men $2 and then later went to Uniontown Hospital for treatment for injuries to his neck and jaw, Field said.

The incident remains under investigation.
