Elizabeth resident faces trial for killing Monongahela man

By Josh Krysak 1 min read

An Elizabeth man will stand trial for allegedly killing a Monongahela man over a drug debt in 2001. Last week, state police charged Ronald Michael Curran, 30, of 3220 Skillet Hill Road with criminal homicide in Jerry Lee Cushey’s death.

All charges against him were held for court following a hearing Wednesday morning in Washington County Court.

Christopher James Myers, 40, of 310 W. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, also was charged with homicide in Cushey’s death.

His hearing was continued until Sept. 29 at the request of his attorney.

The charges were filed against the men after an investigating grand jury in Washington County gave a sealed presentment last week recommending criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide charges be filed against the men.

Prosecutors allege that Cushey, who was 29 years old when he was reported missing Oct. 12, 2001, was killed by Curran and that both men then disposed of his body in several locations across the region.

Following the filing of the charges, investigators discovered human remains in North Union Township, Fayette County, and in Twilight, Washington County, believed to be those of Cushey.

DNA evidence is still being examined to determine if the remains are those of Cushey.
