Police seek couple who used card fraudulently
$30,000 bill charged to area family State police said they are searching for a man and woman who fraudulently tallied a $30,000 bill at several casinos on a credit card owned by a local couple. Trooper James A. Pierce said Anthony Georgiana, 55, of Uniontown told police Aug. 17 that a credit card company notified him that there had been suspicious activity on the account of he and his wife.
Pierce said investigators discovered that someone called the credit card company and requested an additional card Aug. 10. The caller provided the company with all of the couple’s personal information and had the new card mailed to their address.
The suspect apparently got the new card from the mail of the Georgianas and first used it Aug. 12 at the Exxon service station on Main Street in Uniontown.
From there, Pierce said the suspects drove to the Meadows Casino in North Strabane Township, Washington County, and withdrew more than $9,000 at the casino.
Later that night, Pierce said the card was used again to withdraw more than $9,000 at Presque Isle Downs Casino in Erie.
Pierce said two days later, the card was used again at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Del.
A final transaction was made with the stolen card at a WaWa service station in Dover in the amount of nearly $150.
Pierce said police obtained surveillance footage from the Meadows Casino on Tuesday, which shows a thin black man and a heavyset white woman using the card to withdraw cash from a cashier.
Pierce said that officers also discovered surveillance footage taken from the Exxon station that shows the suspects traveling in a black minivan.
