Harry W. Blake
Hary W. Blake, age 95, of Uniontown, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at his home. He was born January 22, 1915 in Menallen Township, son of the late Newton I. Blake and Sarah (Williams) Blake.
Harry was a veteran of World War II who served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and numerous other service medals. He was a retired employee from Menallen Coal and Coke, a member of the UMWA District No. 2, the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, and Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Muriel (Veatch) Blake; two brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by four sons: Harry R. Blake of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Brent Blake and wife Nancy of Uniontown, Gilbert Blake and his wife Eileen of Cranberry Township, PA, Barton Blake and Jeanie Christopher of Uniontown; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, today, August 31, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 1, until 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood will conduct Military Rites at graveside.
