Pedestrian struck by vehicle upgraded to fair condition

Uniontown police said a West Virginia man seriously injured when a car struck him in Uniontown Monday has been upgraded to fair condition. Police Capt. David J. Rutter said Barry Nicholson, 33, of Fairmont, W.Va., was walking on Penn Street in Uniontown when a car driven by William Green of Fairchance struck him.

Rutter said Nicholson flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment.

Rutter said today that hospital personnel had upgraded Nicholson’s condition to fair. He noted that Nicholson suffered a fractured skull, a broken back in three places, a crushed vertebrate, several broken ribs, a broken pelvis and a fractured femur in the accident.
