The Give-A-Christmas total continues to climb, with the latest donations of $660 pushing it to $11,491. “That’s so great,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is official mascot for the campaign to help the Salvation Army. “The fund keeps growing and I’m so touched by all the people who want to become involved.”

The latest donors came from Brownsville, Perryopolis, Uniontown, Fairchance and Grindstone. They included a gift from Springdale Golf Course in Uniontown.

Lee Slick of Brownsville also sent a gift with this message, “Have a very blessed and happy Christmas.”

“Thanks so much,” said Sparkle. “We appreciate the kind messages as well as the donations. But remember, we only have until noon on Dec. 23 to reach our goal of raising $40,000 to help the Salvation Army this holiday season. We’re hoping to help the Salvation Army in a big way as the Salvation Army does so much to help those in need.”

The final amount raised by Give-A-Christmas will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper.

Donations for the campaign, which is marking a quarter century of helping local residents, can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, PO. Box 1147, Uniontown, Pa. 15401, or brought to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown during business hours. Sparkle cans have been placed in numerous store locations in the Herald-Standard distribution area. Readers can also upload or view Sparkle photos for Give-A-Christmas fundraisers at My Take at www.heraldstandard.com.
