Uniontown teen facing multiple charges after home incident
A 15-year-old Uniontown teenager is facing multiple charges after he used a pool stick to beat his mother at their residence in Uniontown Sunday night. Uniontown police Officer Travis Shandor said the teen, who was not identified, was charged in Fayette County Juvenile Court with simple assault, harassment, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Shandor said the incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m., when the teen’s mother tried to intervene in an altercation between the suspect and his younger brother.
Shandor said that the teen became enraged, flipping over a pool table and throwing a chair into a window, breaking it.
Shandor said that the teen then picked up a pool stick and struck his mother with it. He noted that the teen also broke several glass candlesticks during the scuffle.
According to Shandor, when officers attempted to take the youth into custody, he began fighting with police and kicked them.
Shandor said that the boy was placed in a juvenile detention center following the incident.
The extents of the injuries suffered by the child’s mother were not revealed.
