Joseph Revak
Joseph Revak, age 86 years of Masontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Lafayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown.
He was born on July 13, 1924 in Cardale, Pennsylvania son of Endie Revak and Anna (Nitch) Revak.
During World War II, “Joe” proudly served his country in the United States A r m y 127th Infantry at the rank of T-Sgt. in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater a n d t h e Philippines Liberation. He was a highly decorated war veteran receiving four Bronze Stars and a Silver Star Medal for Valor among many ribbons and citations.
“Joe” was a member of Saint Mary Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, New Salem, Newboro Indians Social Club, member and Past Chaplin of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, member of Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584.
He had worked for Fike Chevrolet in Masontown for 40 years as an Auto Body Repairman and was an active member of his community.
Above all else, “Joe” was a loving husband, and wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was a very humble man, and cared deeply for his fellow veterans and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his beloved wife Catherine “Kay” (Naypauer) Revak; brothers, Andrew Revak, Mike Revak, John Revak and Paul Revak; and a sister, Mary Madama.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Karen M. Cenker and husband Ron of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his beloved grandchildren: David Cenker and wife Jennifer of Melbourne, Florida and Michelle Maly and husband Jim of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; three cherished great-grandchildren: Gabe Cenker, Patrick Maly and Madelyn Maly; his sister, Irene Walters and husband Earl of New Salem, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law: Kay Revak of Florida and Louise Revak of New Salem, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 515 North M a i n Street, Masontown, Pennsylvania today, December 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, December 22, 2010 until 10:15 a.m., when the Panachida Service will be held.
Divine Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. i n S a i n t M a r y A s s u m p t i o n Byzantine Catholic Church, New Salem, with Rev. Father Jerome G. Botsko as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, where Military Honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 Honor Guard and the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423 Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Joe’s memory to Mrs. Karen Cenker, 900 Frinks Court, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 where a trust fund will be established for his great grandchildren.
The Parastas Service will be held in the Funeral Home this evening at 7 p.m.
