Mikluscak graduates
Education briefs George Mikluscak, son of George and Stella Mikluscak of Uniontown, recently earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix.
He works as the chief academic officer for Vandalia Consultants. He is the grandson of the late Joseph and Julia Mikluscak and the late William and Hannah Show.
Witt earns honor
David Witt, a Connellsville Area High School graduate, was named to the dean’s list at Geneva College in Beaver Falls for the fall 2009 semester. Dean’s list status is awarded to students who earn a 3.6 grade-point average or higher. Witt is a senior business major at the college.
Teets is listed
Allegany College of Maryland has announced the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester.
Nathan Teets of Markleysburg and Rachel Hostetler and Ruth Blycheck, both of Confluence, are among 344 students named to the list. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must earn a 3.8 grade-point average or higher.
Students on list
Nicholas Keefer of Perryopolis and Christopher A. Brittain of Scottdale were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester at Lock Haven University.
The dean’s list recognizes students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average. Keefer is a senior studying health and physical education. Brittain is a senior studying communication media.
Dr. David White, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Thomas Ormond, dean of the College of Education and Human Services, noted the significance of being named to the dean’s list.
White stated, “The dean’s list is a signal honor. It recognizes a student’s mastery of subject matter, which could not have been achieved without discipline and hard work.”
Ormond echoed those sentiments by saying, “The dean’s list is tangible evidence of students’ commitment to achieving academic excellence and should be showcased for all to see and fellow students to strive for.”
Students honored
Danielle Cochrane of Masontown and Jessica Zavatchen of Uniontown were named to the president’s list at Bethany College in West Virginia for the fall 2009 semester. Those named to the president’s list achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Joseph Testa of Amity, Meghan Philp of Bentleyville, Alexis Evans of Brownsville, Scott Fraley of New Salem and Alex Frankhouser of Uniontown were named to the dean’s list at Bethany College for the fall 2009 semester. Those named to the dean’s list earned a grade- point average of 3.65 or better.
