Connellsville grandmother headed to trial

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

A Connellsville woman accused of using her 8-year-old granddaughter to steal items from a local retailer will have her day in court. State police allege that when she drove off, Elaine Weimer, 50, left the girl behind at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in South Union Township June 23.

Trooper Andrew S. Reith said Weimer was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and retail theft following the incident.

George bound all charges against Weimer for Fayette County Court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
