Expressway work to require closure of Route 51 exit ramp

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

Construction of the second phase of the Uniontown-to-Brownsville section of the Mon/Fayette Expressway will require the closure of the Route 51 exit ramp from Route 119 north in North Union Township beginning Tuesday. The closure will last through Friday, Aug. 11.

The general contractor, Walsh Construction, will be demolishing and reconstructing the Route 51 ramp during this period. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said the detour for Route 119 north traffic to Route 51 north and south will be via Route 119 north to the Connellsville Street exit. Traffic will then loop around the interchange, back onto Route 119 south to the Route 51 exit ramp. Detour signs will be posted.
