Uniontown police make four arrests in burglary

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

Less than 24 hours after Uniontown police responded to a reported burglary Tuesday, officers made four arrests in the alleged thefts. Police Officer David J. Rutter said Kenneth Moore, 35, of 163 Lincoln St., Uniontown, and Karl Robert Keyton, 20, of 14 Batha Road, Smock, were each charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, theft, criminal conspiracy to commit theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to receive stolen property and criminal mischief for their roles in the theft.

Rutter said additional charges were filed against Sally M. Moore, 20, and Lora Lee Scagline, 27, both of 163 Lincoln St., Uniontown, for criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and criminal conspiracy to receive stolen property.

Rutter said the charges were filed after police responded to a burglary at the 147 Lincoln St. home of Dorothy Isler at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday.

Isler told police that she was in the process of moving to a home on Morgantown Road and that when she returned to her residence, she found her washer and dryer were stolen.

Rutter said that the washer and dryer were eventually discovered at the Mini Mart Furniture and Appliances store on Pittsburgh Street Wednesday morning.

Rutter said after reviewing a receipt of the purchase of the washer and dryer, he identified Kenneth Moore as a potential suspect.

Rutter said he then went to Kenneth Moore’s home and took him into custody.

After initially denying any knowledge of the burglary, Rutter said he showed Moore the signed receipt and he then admitted to stealing the items with Keyton after plotting the heist with Sally Moore and Scagline.

All four suspects were placed in the Fayette County Prison on $15,000 straight cash bond following their arraignments on Wednesday afternoon.

Preliminary hearings will be held for the suspects at a later date before Metros.
