Charles Hela, 84 years, of Jefferson Township, Perryopolis, Pennsylvania died on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1926 in Fayette City, Pennsylvania the Son of George Hela and the Sophia Dorchincez Hela.

He was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.

Charles was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen Plant.

He was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Navy.

He was a Lifetime Member of the Brightwell-Daughtery American Legion Post 484 in Fayette City, Pennsylvania.

C h a r l e s w a s t h e last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Martha Smetanka Hela; three Sons: Tony Hela and wife Tina and granddaughter Brittany, Edward Hela and Stanley Hela, and he also raised an adopted grandson, Stanley Hela Jr., all of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; six brothers, George, Mike, Pete, Andrew, Steve and John; and a sister, Ann Kushnar.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 9 a.m. in the Funeral Home with Rev. Father Sam Smolcic officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pennsylvania.

Parastas Service will be held at 7 p.m.

The Brightwell-Daugherty American Legion Post 484 will conduct Services at 7:30 p.m.
