Critz to hold event
U.S. Rep. Mark Critz, D-Johnstown, will host an event in Uniontown on Saturday to thank those who supported him in the special election and primary on May 18.
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47, 142 W. Main St. The event is free and open to all supporters. Event organizers recommend casual attire.

Clinic to be held
Fayette Friends of Animals, in conjunction with Animal Friends of Pittsburgh, will sponsor two more spay and neuter clinics for cats Aug. 7 and Aug. 19.
Officials from Animal Friends will provide its mobile spay clinic to the shelter in Menallen Township for the event, which will allow shelter employees to spay and neuter as many as 30 cats during each session.
Applications for the clinic are available at the shelter during business hours: Monday and Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m.
The nonprofit group said that applicants must provide proof of household income as the program is based on financial need.
Costs for the clinic begin at $40.
The shelter is located at 223 Searights-Herbert Road.
Miners Day fair, picnic
The annual Miners Day Health Fair and Picnic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Ten Mile Creek Park, pavilions 1 and 2, Fredericktown.
The event, sponsored by the United Mine Workers of America’s health and retirement funds and Centerville Clinics Black Lung Program, will feature free health screenings and educational materials. Entertainment for the event will include music, free food, door prizes and other giveaways. Attendees will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.
