Stephen F. “Ham” Palaisa
Stephen F. “Ham” Palaisa, age 87 of Filbert, Pa., passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born September 29, 1922 in Filbert, Pa., a son of the late Michael Palaisa and Anna Matesich Palisa. Stephen was a member of St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church, New Salem, Pa.; he was retired from U.S. Steel’s Robena Mine, a member of UMWA Local 6321, the New Salem American Legion Post 753, Fairbank Rod and Gun Club and the Newboro Indians Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Jerry Palaisa in 1973, son-in-law Jerry Kremposky, sisters: Magdaline Laginja, Anna Lukac, Catherine Palaisa and Mary Danko and brothers: Anthony, Matthew, John, Gerald, Michael and Joseph Palaisa.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years Stella Sanko Palaisa; children: James Palaisa of North East, Maryland, Renee Kremposky of Allison, Pa. And Rosemary Palaisa of Alright, West Virginia; grandchildren: Janice Pasquale and husband Lou, Jerry Kremposky, Lucia Pasquale and Steve Palaisa III.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 20 North Mill St., New Salem, Pa. On Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, July 12, 2010 until 9:30 a.m. when a prayer service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in St. Procopius Church with Rev. Fr. Peter Peretti as Celebrant.
Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
