Stylists join Beauty World
Uniontown Beauty World, a full-service salon and boutique at 17 Morgantown St., Uniontown, has added two stylists to its team. Kelly Harshman of Uniontown, a Laurel Business Institute graduate; specializes in color formulations, corrective colors, highlights, foils, cutting, razor cuts, men’s’ cuts, texturing, updos, waxing, roller setups, spa manicures and pedicures.
Kelley A. Fullem of Lemont Furnace, also a Laurel Business Institute graduate, specializes in acrylics, spa manicures and pedicures, razor cutting, roller sets, men’s’ cuts, waxing and perms.

Connellsville Day care center opens
Little Buddies Day Care has opened in the first floor of the Community Center, 201 E. Fairview Ave., Connellsville.
Rose John is director of the facility that serves all counties. A mother of four, John seeks to help the families in the area balance professional and parental scheduling issues.
Licensed by the state, the center offers programming for all children: Arts and crafts, story time, music time, basic alphabet skills, access to outdoor playground immediately beside daycare and access to a gym. There are four full-time staff members, all fully-qualified with at least three years of experience in child care.
Breakfast and snacks are offered as part of the program fee.Enrollments are now being taken. The center will accept payment through the Child Care Information Services (CCIS) program.

Uniontown Acupuncturist has new hours
Licensed acupuncturist Melissa Murtha has added hours on Saturday for her practice at Braun Chiropractic, 105 Bierer Lane, upper level, Uniontown.
Her hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Murtha said the combination of acupuncture and chiropractic treatments is an effective way of combating many conditions, such as pain, especially chronic.
Acupuncture can be used for most health issues, she said, but is especially popular for pain management, weight loss, smoking cessation, allergies, gastrointestinal problems and insomnia.

Uniontown Adult center holds open house
The Center in the Woods Adult Day Care Center, a non-profit organization in California, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony/open house for its Maplewood Adult Day Care Center at 11 a.m. Thursday at the facility at 110 Daniel Drive, Uniontown.
This location offers many of the same services offered at the main location in California, including medical services, personal care, social interaction, activities and outdoor recreation.
The center is a friendly, secure place for older adults who cannot or do not wish to stay at home during the day while family members work, run errands or simply need a break.
Its mission is to provide the highest quality of life for older adults in southwestern Pennsylvania and to help keep people in their homes and in the community.
The staff includes an LPN.
All members of the community are invited to the opening of the newest location in Uniontown to learn more about Maplewood Adult Day Care Center and its services.

Latrobe Trademark, copyright workshop planned
St. Vincent College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting the workshop, “Trademark and Copyright Basics,” from 10 a.m. to noon July 28. This workshop is recommended for business owners, inventors, writers, attorneys, accountants and anyone who wants to protect their intellectual property rights.
“Trademark and Copyright Basics” will uncover what a trademark and copyright are, who is entitled to a trademark or copyright, how to obtain a trademark or copyright, what rights one has with a trademark or copyright, what the requirements are for federally registering a trademark or copyright and the laws behind trademarks and copyrights. Attendees will gain a better understanding of both types of intellectual property and learn to protect themselves and their idea, product or service from being stolen or exploited.
