Water main break in Uniontown

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

A portion of Morgantown Street in Uniontown remains closed after a water main ruptured this morning. Uniontown police Officer David J. Rutter said officers were called to a location on Morgantown Street between Church and Main streets for a reported water line break at 11:07 a.m.

Rutter said the major line fractured causing water to pour into the street and also flooded the basements of at least two businesses on Morgantown Street.

He said that officials from Pennsylvania American Water quickly capped the gushing water, but noted that the street remains closed to traffic as crews work to repair damage to the road and sidewalk.

“This was a significant line that broke this morning and will likely cause some water service disturbances in the immediate area,” Rutter said.

It was not clear Sunday evening when the water line repair would be completed.
