Police capture wanted man hiding in attic

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

Uniontown police captured a wanted man hiding in the attic of a duplex early Sunday. Officer Ray Miller said officers found Trenton A. Branch inside his girlfriend’s residence on Farragut Street at 12:32 a.m.

Miller said officers received a tip that Branch was inside the residence but a female tenant denied them access to the building.

He said that city police officers, state constables and state police troopers monitored all doors and possible exits of the residence while contacting the Fayette County Housing Authority to gain legal access to the home.

Once inside, police searched the house but could not locate Branch.

However, Miller said he noticed a door for an attic crawl space in one of the closets inside the home. He said that Officer Frederick Kampert got into the attic from an adjoining residence and found Branch hiding in the crawl space.

Miller said Branch was arraigned on charges of fleeing and eluding police, recklessly endangering another person and seven summary counts following his capture.

He also was arraigned on an active bench warrant and Miller said additional charges are pending further investigation.

Branch was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.

A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.
