God crucial to success of country
It started with the pilgrims. They took a dangerous voyage across the ocean, not knowing what lay ahead of them. They wanted to escape from a dictatorship that told them how and when they could worship. These people made this journey knowing that it could cost them their lives, but they put their faith in God to see them through. Then came the colonials. They were a group of dedicated men, who came together with a desire for freedom, and they signed a declaration. These men knew that by signing this document a lot of lives would have to be sacrificed. These proud men and women believed that God would be with them and give them the strength and courage to obtain this freedom. Thanks to these pilgrims, colonials and other brave soldiers down through the years, we are able to enjoy this precious freedom.
Our country continued to grow and prosper. We Americans were able to live in peace. God continued to play an important part of our lives. We showed our appreciation by keeping God on our U. S. currency, important documents, and in our songs that we hold dear to our hearts.
Consider the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self -evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life and the pursuit of happiness”.
There’s the “Star Spangled Banner.” “When our cause is just, and this be our motto, “In God We Trust”
There’s also the Pledge of Allegiance. “One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.”
We are considered the strongest nation in the world. We are losing that strength. The solid ground and foundation we were built on is beginning to weaken. We have made a wrong turn on the road to independence because we are going against the principles that this country was built on, and we are slowly removing God from our lives.
The government has already removed the Ten Commandments from our judicial buildings. The laws that we live by were originally taken from these same commandments. There has been some discussion about making changes or possibly removing “In God We Trust” from our U.S. currency. Our government has also taken prayer out of our classrooms. Our children are the future of tomorrow. We all need to wake up and do what needs to be done so these leaders of tomorrow will have a solid foundation of morals and principles to build on. Keeping God in their lives would play a big part of doing just that.
Can we for one minute think that the early Americans signed the Declaration of Independence (which started our Constitution), then fought and died to give our current government and Supreme Court the right to take God out of a lot of things that we hold dear in our lives.
God has and should always be the main source of energy that gives us the strength to keep our country free. Can you begin to imagine what these earlier Americans would say if they could see our nation today?
