Silvo (Sil) Conoline
0005902839-01-1.jpg 0005902839-01-2.jpg Silvio (Sil) Conoline of Uniontown died peacefully Monday, July 12, 2010 at Uniontown Hospital. Sil was born on May 27, 1919 in Mt. Sterling, the son of Felicia (Uriani) and Dominick Conoline.
He recently celebrated his 91’st birthday with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceeded in death by his loving wife Betty Jane (Baden) Conoline, sister Helen Filotei and two brothers William Conoline and Arnold Conoline Sr. and Yolonda (Leona) Leoni.
Silvio was a vetern of World War II having served in the 67th Coast Artillery in North Africa in 1942.
He worked for H. C. Frick Coal Company, Smock, Pa. and Maxwell and Robena Mines. He also worked at Anchor Glass Corporation in Connellsville, Pa. as a maintenance Forman. He retired in 1985.
He was member of Saint Theresa’s Parish and Uniontown Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a former President of the Sons of Italy in Smock.
In his youth, Sil was an avid sports fan. In addition to playing he also Umpired baseball and refereed football. He was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He also enjoyed his polka music on Saturday mornings.
Sil is survived by one sister Edith (Conoline) Shaffer of Wickliffe, OH; sisters-in-law, Noreen and Ada (Dolly) Conoline of Bristol, Pa. and a brother-in-law Robert Leoni of Uniontown, Pa.
He will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews and by all of the many friends who he always cherished spending time with.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing at the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, Pa. today, July 15, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at which time a blessing service will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church with the Msgr. Michael W. Matusak, Pastor, V.F. as Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
A parish wake service will be held this afternoon, July 15, 2010 at 3 p.m. Millitary rites will be accorded by VFW Post 8542.
