Masontown news Teens and adults are invited to join friends at the German-Masontown Public Library every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. for game night. Come and play a card or board game for an hour of fun.

The German-Masontown Public Library thanks the German Township Class of 1942 for its generous donation.

The German-Masontown Public Library will offer a three-day summer reading program for children ages 4-10 from Aug. 10-12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Class size is limited. Call 724-583-7030 to register as soon as possible.

Golf scramble

The Albert Gallatin Education Foundation will hold its annual golf scramble on Aug. 14 at Springdale Golf Course. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the shotgun start will be at 8.

Registration fee is $240 per team or $60 per individual if pre-paid by Aug. 2. Make checks payable to Albert Gallatin Education Foundation, 2625 Morgantown Road, Uniontown. Registration and payment after Aug. 2 or the day of the scramble will be $260 per team or $65 per individual.

Cash bash/bingo

A cash bash/bingo will be held at the Footedale Volunteer Fire Department at noon, Aug. 1. The $30 donation will include a bingo package. Proceeds from this event will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Farmers’ Market

Visit the Masontown Farmers’ Market every Friday at the German-Masontown Park from 3 to 7 p.m. The event is free and sellers as well as buyers are invited.

Community Kitchen

The next Masontown Community Kitchen meal will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The summer evenings’ meal will be hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, Panera Breads and ice cream sandwiches.

The Community Kitchen is the result of the combined efforts and generosity of organizations and individuals in Masontown and the surrounding area who volunteer their time for the soup kitchen. Volunteers are an essential part of the soup kitchen. A chef is needed. Contact Kathy West at 724-583-9514, or Betty Crable at 724-583-7464 to schedule a time to volunteer or for information about making a contribution.

The Community Kitchen is held in the First Presbyterian Church at 102 W. Church Ave. The meal is served every other Tuesday.

The social and spiritual fellowship, hospitality and meals are free to everyone. Donations are gratefully accepted and are used for future meals. Please remember to invite someone who is in need of a meal to attend with you.
