School reunion

Mountain news Today is the one-room and two-room school annual reunion at the Mountain Citizen Action Group building on Old Dinnerbell Road, Farmington.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. A covered-dish dinner will be served at 1 p.m. Plates, cups, tableware, coffee and cold beverages will be provided.

Bible School

Markleysburg Union Church will hold “High Seas Expedition” Bible School Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 each evening. Classes will be available for children age 3 through sixth grade. The church is located at 114 Brown Hill Road.

Hunter education class

A hunter education class will be held Thursday and Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.

To participate, children must be at least 11 years old by July 23 and be pre-registered. They must also attend both sessions. Class size is limited to 50. To register, call 724-812-7470.

Snacks will be provided.

Angel Food Ministry

July’s Angel Food ministry pickup date is from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Markleysburg Union Church, Brown Hill Road.

Celebrations

Greetings go to Carol and Rick Friend of Dinnerbell-Ohiopyle Road, who celebrated their wedding anniversary July 11, and to Wanda and Dee Evangelista of Uniontown, who will celebrate their anniversary Monday. Mrs. Friend and Mrs. Evangelista are the daughters of Edna Ruth Myers of Farmington.

Ruth Dudics of Confer Vista Drive, Uniontown and formerly of Markleysburg, was a birthday celebrant July 13. She was treated to lunch by her sister, Eleanor Burnworth of Farmington.

Doug Lowe, a teacher at A.J. McMullen School, celebrated his birthday July 6. He and his wife, Susan, are celebrating their wedding anniversary today.

The Lowes formerly resided in Franklin Township and are now residents of Farmington.

Senior Citizens Day

The Mountain Citizen Action Group Seniors will attend Senior Citizens Day at the Fayette County Fair on Aug. 4. Seniors will be admitted free that day until 2 p.m.

The group will be eligible for prizes in various categories such as largest group attending, longest married couple, oldest senior woman and man and sexiest male or female legs.

All mountain seniors are encouraged to participate in this event as well as join the group for lunch, conversation and activity on Thursdays at the center on Old Dinnerbell Road.

Ladies tea planned

“Ladies Tea Extravaganza will be held at 7 p.m. July 27 at the Salvation Army Building, 32 W. Fayette St., Uniontown. It is sponsored by the Uniontown Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary.

This event is designed to introduce women of all ages to the auxiliary and to the many planned activities.
