Food bank, Giant Eagle offering donation program

By Herald Standard Staff 2 min read

Fayette County Community Action Agency (FCCAA) Inc.’s Food Bank and Giant Eagle supermarkets are offering a cereal donation program to provide help for people who need food and bonus fuelperks for customers. The program will take through July 28 at all Giant Eagle supermarkets throughout western Pennsylvania, including the Giant Eagle store located along Route 51 in North Union Township.

FCCAA’s Food Bank and Giant Eagle will provide store customers the opportunity to purchase boxes of cereal, make a cereal donation to the food bank and earn bonus fuelperks at the same time.

Giant Eagle is offering four boxes of cereal for a discount. Cereal brands that qualify for the program include Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cheerios, Honey Bunches of Oats, Frosted Mini Wheats, Honey Nut Cheerios, Life and Special K Red Berries.

Collection sites will be available inside the Uniontown Giant Eagle store for donations of cereal boxes for FCCAA’s Food Bank.

Giant Eagle participates in the Fall Food Share program, which FCCAA operates in October and November.

Last year, FCCAA’s Food Bank distributed more than 1.8 million pounds of food to people who needed help.

For more information about the program, call Jamie Brink, project manager at FCCAA’s Food Bank, at 724-437-6050, extension 1264.
