Charges dismissed against Brumfield All charges were dismissed Tuesday afternoon against a Uniontown man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and trying to smother her with a pillow July 5 in Uniontown.

Uniontown police Officer Frederick G. Kampert said Larry Brumfield, 57, of 160 Lenox St., Uniontown, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner with simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Kampert said all charges against Brumfield were dismissed during a preliminary hearing held before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros Tuesday because the alleged victim, Alicia Marie Boyd, of Uniontown did not appear in court.

According to Kampert, the charges were filed after Brumfield assaulted Boyd, 28, at her apartment on Cleveland Avenue around 6 a.m.

Kampert said Boyd told investigators that she was sleeping inside her residence when Brumfield struck her in the face several times, kicked her and held a pillow over her face.

Kampert said that Brumfield also retrieved a kitchen knife and threatened Boyd. Kampert said Brumfield told her that he could “kill her and think nothing of it.”

As a result of the attack, Kampert said Boyd suffered injuries to her face, neck and arms.

It was not clear what prompted the attack, Kampert said.
