Charges withdrawn against local woman
The majority of charges filed against a Dunbar woman accused of ramming her vehicle into another in South Union Township last week were withdrawn Wednesday. State police Cpl. Russ Freed said Kathleen Diane Rockwell, 53, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
During a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr., prosecutors withdrew both assault charges against Rockwell, who then waived the reckless endangerment charge to Fayette County Court.
The charges were filed after Rockwell and Timothy Rockwell got into a domestic dispute Friday regarding alleged infidelity by Timothy Rockwell, investigators said.
Kathleen Rockwell then got into a minivan and began looking for Timothy Rockwell, who had left their residence, Freed said.
Freed said Kathleen Rockwell eventually spotted Timothy Rockwell and Tina Rockwell in a vehicle on a road in South Union Township and began to follow them.
Timothy Rockwell attempted to elude Kathleen Rockwell, but was unsuccessful, police said.
Freed said that Kathleen Rockwell then rammed her vehicle into the side of Timothy Rockwell’s pickup truck.
Timothy Rockwell continued to flee in his vehicle and Tina Rockwell called police.
During the pursuit, the minivan rammed the passenger truck on multiple occasions, Freed said.
Eventually, the incident ended on Route 119 when both Timothy Rockwell and Kathleen Rockwell stopped their vehicles as state police cruisers approached.
The sudden stop by the vehicles caused the responding troopers to collide with one another, police said.
The troopers driving the units were taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released, Freed said.
Kathleen Rockwell was initially placed in Fayette County Prison on $100,000 bond, but was released on an unsecured bond following Wednesday’s hearing.
