Dorothy Jane Provance Griffin
Dorothy Jane Provance Griffin, 81, of Dilliner, Pa., died peacefully Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Born September 26, 1928, in Point Marion, she was a daughter of the late Frank L. and Martha Barr Provance.
A 1945 graduate of Point Marion High School, she was a devoted Christian lady, and a member of the Faith Connection Church in Poland Mines. She loved to make her delicious homemade jellies and jams, which she enjoyed giving to her family and many friends.
Surviving are her three children and their spouses: Robert and Lois Griffin of Dilliner, Darlene Sue and James March of Campobello, South Carolina, and Timothy and Tammie Griffin of Dilliner; seven grandsons: Robert “B.J.” Griffin, Jr. and wife Laura of Abingdon, Maryland, Joshua and Joseph March of Campobello, and Jordan, Tanner, Evan and Owen Griffin, all of Dilliner; a great-grandson, River March of Campobello; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Anita Griffin Cooke of Morgantown, W.Va.
Her beloved husband of 56 years, Alfred Griffin passed away on November 16, 2007.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Howard, Charles and Glen Provance; and four sisters, Sarah Salmon, Nancy Lee Galeotta, Lee Ann Conn and Cora Eberhart.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., and Saturday until 1 P.M., the hour of service, with Rev. Joe Eicholtz and Rev. David Riggleman officiating.
Entombment follows in Greene County Memorial Park, Jefferson, Pa.
