Justin J. Kuvinka
Justin J. Kuvinka, 53, of California, Pa., died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in UPMC Presby with his loving family by his side. He was born Tuesday, August 21, 1956, in Charleroi, Pa., a son of the late George and Mary (Tonkavitch) Kuvinka.
Justin was an avid fisherman and golfer. He also loved to do landscaping and remodeling around his home. He worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for 10 years on the Track Gang for the Monessen South Western Railway, and was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1229.
For the last 20 years, Justin was employed by the Washington County Housing Authority as a maintenance mechanic and was currently working at the Nathan Goff high rise in Charleroi. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 585. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Justin played basketball in high school and he coached the girls softball team for KAA. He was a retired member of the California Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion JFK Post 377 in California.
Justin was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Terri Matheson Kuvinka; daughters, Tara Kuvinka of Charleroi, Pa and her fiance Michael Dieteman of Jacksonville, N.C., and Kala Kuvinka of California, Pa.; sister, Adele Yakupkovich and husband Raymond of Huntersville, N.C.; brother, Chris Kuvinka of California; and sister, Marissa Satifka and husband David of California. He also leaves behind his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James “Red” and Lillian Matheson, of California; several nieces and nephews; and the pets he loved, “Charlie, Shorty, Mr. Jingles and Harley.”
Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Saturday July 24, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
