Reunion held
Mountain news Sixty people attended the recent One-Room and Two-Room School Reunion at the Mountain Citizen Action Group Senior Center.
Hailing from Addison, Confluence, Dunbar, Farmington, Hopwood, Markleysburg, Monroeville, Slippery Rock, Smithfield, Uniontown, Burton, Ohio; Clarksville, Tenn.; and Weirton, W.Va.; the group enjoyed reminiscing and a wonderful covered-dish meal.
In 22 reunions, 65 different one-room or two-room schools in three states have been represented.
Prayer was given by Pastor Mike Grantz. The oldest woman present was Genevieve Ault Cline, 89, of Weirton, W.Va.; the oldest man was Wade Fike, 94, from Farmington.
A card was signed for the Rev. Bill Rodeheaver, 90, who could not attend.
President of the group is Sonny Glisan; Lois Fitzpatrick is treasurer; and Beverly Diehl is secretary.
Citizen Action Group
The Mountain Citizen Action Group’s (MCAG) annual appreciation dinner, by reservation only, will be held at noon Thursday at the center on Old Dinnerbell Road, Farmington. Myers Catering will provide the meal.
The senior center is holding a huge indoor yard and bake sale Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. A variety of items plus a large selection of medical equipment will be for sale. The lunch counter will be open both days. All proceeds benefit the Mountain Citizen Action Group Senior Center. Maxine Anderson is coordinating this function.
July birthdays to be celebrated Aug. 5 at the center include Rosella Spaw, July 4; Susie Myers July 6; Debbie Mills, July 9; Duane Weltz, July 13; Flora Mae Humbert, July 16; Fred Warner, July 16; Ida Wable, July 21; and Sharon Jenkins, July 28.
Aug. 4 is Senior Day at the Fayette County Fair. Seniors are encouraged to attend, whether by bus or car.

Anniversaries
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bontrager are celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary today. Married at Jumonville Chapel, the couple initially lived in St. Clair Shores, Mich., then moved to Uniontown but have now resided in Markleysburg for more than 20 years. Mr. Bontrager was the son of the late Dr. O.R. and Marie Bontrager. Mrs. Bontrager was the daughter of the late Roy and Virginia Fischer.
The Rev. Shirley Norman, formerly of Markleysburg, but well-known in the whole mountain area, is now living in a rehabilitation center. Her current address is Rosewood Rehab Nursing Center, 8 Rose St., Grafton, W.Va. 26354. Cards would be appreciated.
Rev. Norman was the founder of Caring People Ministry.

Ladies tea planned
A “Ladies Tea Extravaganza” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Building, 32 N. Fayette St., Uniontown. Sponsored by the Uniontown Women’s Auxiliary, this event has been designed to introduce women of all ages to the women’s auxiliary and all of the many activities.
