Liquor Control Enforcement raids two establishments

By Josh Krysak 1 min read

The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement simultaneously raided two Fayette County speakeasies Sunday afternoon. Acting District Office Commander Robert W. George said that the raids were conducted around 5:30 p.m. at the Monarch Volunteer Fire Department in Dunbar Township and the Continental 2 Rod and Gun Club in South Union Township.

During the raid at the Rod and Gun Club, officers said they seized 68 liters of liquor and 68 gallons of malt and brewed beverages.

Additionally, more than $150 cash and other enforcement-related items were also confiscated, police said.

At the Monarch VFD, police said they discovered 17 liters of liquor and 21 gallons of malt and brewed beverages.

Other items from the VFD were also seized.

George said the raids were conducted because neither establishment is legally permitted to sell alcoholic beverages.

Police said they are continuing to criminally investigate both establishments and said that charges are pending.
