Police investigate beating, robbery of elderly woman
BROWNSVILLE – Police are investigating after an elderly woman was beaten and robbed at gunpoint in Brownsville July 17. Brownsville police said the incident occurred at 4:42 p.m. as the woman, who was not identified, was approached by an unidentified man while she was outside her Peach Street home.
The man brandished a handgun and struck the woman in the face, police said. The suspect then dragged the woman into her home.
Once inside, police said the man stole $20 and a silver watch before fleeing the residence on foot.
Brownsville Ambulance Service took the woman, who is in her early 80s, to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of head injuries.
The seriousness of her injuries was not disclosed.
The suspect was described as a tall, thin black man. He was wearing a red cloth over his head and face, covering everything but his eyes, while committing the robbery, police said.
