Sara D. “Sally” Durigon Newcomer
0005909149-01-1.jpg Sara D. “Sally” Durigon Newcomer, age 95, a resident of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, July 23, 2010 in the Uniontown Hospital. Sally was born September 8, 1914 in Uniontown, Pa.
She was a 1931 graduate of Uniontown High School and received her teaching degree from California State Teachers College.
She was a proud teacher for over 30 years at several local schools including Searight, New Salem and the Uniontown Area.
Later, she was an office manager/paralegal for her husband and her son in their law office.
She was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
She is survived by her son, Uniontown attorney Ewing D. “Ed” Newcomer and his girl friend Shelley Ralston; also many special nieces and nephews, including Judy McElroy of California State, Donna Rohaley, Margaret Ann Bialon and Joseph P. Durigon III of Smock, Pa., Marie Brink of Trafford Pa., Pamela Kallio and Teresa Elliott of Michigan, Susan Bentz of Allison Park, Pa., Donna Richardson of New Jersey, Sue Burick of Wampum, Pa., Elizabeth Durrell and Lynn Lanman of Ohio, Ruth Wilkes of Texas, Roberta Newcomer of Ohio and Thomas Newcomer of New York.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Attorney Ewing K. Newcomer; by her parents, Joseph and Maria Durigon; brothers, Edward R. Durigon, Natcie Durigon, Joseph P. Durigon Jr. and Duronda Durigon; sisters, Persiana Durigon, Netto Smithberger, Zena Durigon and Virginia Kifus; niece, Joyce Leonelli; and nephew, Bernard Leonelli Jr.
Friends will be received in the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL H O M E, 65 N o r t h Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa. today, July 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday July 28, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, July 29, 2010 until 10 a.m., when a Blessing Service will be held with Msgr. Michael W. Matusak, V.F., as Celebrant.
Entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
