State police search for robbery suspect

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

BULLSKIN TWP. – State police are searching for a Derry man accused of strong-arm robbery at a location in Bullskin Township Sunday night. Trooper Heather L. Clem said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Donald Earl Overly III, 36, for the alleged robbery.

Clem said the incident occurred around 9 p.m. at a location on Everson Valley Road near Pennsville Street.

Clem said that while at that location, Overly grabbed a purse from Patricia Santmyer, 52, of Connellsville.

He then removed more than $200 from a wallet inside the purse and then fled the scene, Clem said.

According to Clem, Santmyer suffered an injury to her left hand as a result of the robbery.

This is not Overly’s first run in with the law.

Westmoreland County Court records indicate that charges of theft and criminal trespassing were withdrawn against Overly earlier this year.

In 2006, records indicate that Overly was sentenced to 1 to 12 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to theft and receiving stolen property.

That sentence came just months after Overly pleaded guilty to theft in a separate case and was sentenced to two years probation.

Anyone with information regarding Overly’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
