GK Realty closed out the Fayette County Baseball League’s regular season Wednesday night with a playoff-settling victory, defeating Mill Run, 2-1, on Steve Kezmarsky’s two-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning. The victory, coupled with Tuesday’s 5-2 win over Pasta Lorenzo and Monday’s 0-0 tie with Pasta Lorenzo, clinches third place for GK Realty with a 12-10-2 record and home-field advantage at Hutchinson in its best-of-3 series with Pasta Lorenzo.

Mill Run (10-13-1) finishes sixth and will be on the road tonight in Charleroi against Mitch’s Bail Bonds (12-11-1).

Blue Mountain (16-6-2) hosts Watson & Sons (4-19-1) tonight at Carmichaels High School.

Bud Murphy’s (19-3-2) won the regular season crown and has a bye in the quarterfinals.

Tonight’s opening games, as well as Friday’s games, begin at 5:45 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 will be Sunday at times yet to be determined.

Mill Run opened the scoring in the top of the second with an unearned run, but GK Realty tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

Cory Sawka opened the bottom of the seventh with a single. Losing pitcher Greg Welsh retired the next two batters, but Kezmarsky came through with the game-winning double.

Evan Arison went the distance to earn the victory, allowing four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks. Mike Newhouse had a double for the victors.

Welsh also pitched into the seventh and allowed four hits, striking out eight and walking three. Andrew Brooks doubled for Mill Run and Alex Keslar had two singles.

Gio Schiano pitched six strong innings Tuesday in the 5-2 win.
