Cal U relay team honored

The California (Pa.) women’s 4×400-meter relay team has been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Sandy Estep, Shakeria Love, Jerica Snedden and Clare McSweeney were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

The quartet also posted a school-record time of 3:48.20 en route to a PSAC relay championship this past season, the first since 1985.

Golf Shea scores ace

Liam Shea, of Carmichaels, scored a hole-in-one recently in a junior tournament at Nemacolin Country Club. The 11-year-old used a 6-iron to ace No. 14, a 137-yard par-3.

Playing partners Anthony Elisco and Jacob Cannon as well as scorer Michael Lubrani witnessed the shot.

Outdoors Archery 3D league

A six-week 3D league is under way at Hunting Hills Preserve in Dilliner, and there is still time to get in on the action.

League rounds can be shot between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursdays and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays.

The cost is $15 per week for the 20-target course. The league will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 5.
