Connellsville rallies past Carmichaels Carmichaels held the lead until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Connellsville scored a pair of an infield error and a fielder’s choice to rally for a 9-8 home victory Monday in Fayette American Legion Baseball League action.

Carmichaels (1-3) scored singles runs in the first and second, and extended its lead with two in the third.

Connellsville (4-3) moved into its first lead in the fifth with a single run after scoring four in the bottom of the fourth.

The seesaw continued with Carmichaels scoring three in the top of the sixth and one more in the seventh. Connellsville drew closer when Ryan Craft’s bases-loaded single scored two.

Tyler McWilliams (3-0) entered the game with one out in the seventh, picking up the final five outs. He allowed two hits, no walks and struck out three.

Connellsville belted out 12 hits, including Craft’s three singles that brought home three runs. Steve O’Donnell swatted three singles and knocked home one run. Josh Henry had a double, single and two RBIs.

Carmichaels pounded out 17 hits, including three each from Anthonie Farrar and C.J. Jeffries. Trevor Robinson, Nick Clarke, Steve McCaw and Jarrett Porterfield all had two hits apiece.

In Saturday’s action, Colonial 3 swept a doubleheader from Farmington, 10-0 and 11-1.

Ron Holp (2-0) won the first game, striking out seven and walking none. John Bush hit a two-run home run and Randy Smithburger had a solo shot. Jason Guthrie finished with two hits, while Zach Hibbs had a double and two RBIs.

Zach Smalich won the second game, striking out three and walking one. Zach Patterson put the game out of reach with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Smithburger went 3-for-4, including a two-run double.

Colonial 3 (3-2) plays Uniontown on Wednesday night.

Fayette County League

Blue Mountain 9, Watson & Sons 0 – The bats came alive and Justin Schrader held the home team to just two hits to give Blue Mountain a Fayette County Baseball League road victory Sunday.

Schrader (1-0) pitched the first five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Schrader’s brother Tyler pitched the sixth and Cameron Ward closed out the seventh.

Ryan Lewicki had the big hit of the game for the victors, a grand slam in the five-run fourth inning. Dan Novak had two singles and two RBIs, and John Leonard added a pair of RBIs to the winning effort. J.W.Kayla and Cy Mozingo both finished with a pair of singles.

Blue Mountain (2-0) hosts Mitch’s Bail Bonds tonight. Watson & Sons falls to 0-5.
