By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

A Pittsburgh man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle struck a deer in Wharton Township. State police Trooper Chad W. Weaver said Alan F. Ayoub, 44, died from injuries suffered in the accident at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday.

Weaver said Ayoub was traveling westbound on Route 40 shortly after midnight Sunday when a deer attempted to cross the road in front of him.

Ayoub’s 2003 Suzuki Volusia Intruder struck the animal causing the motorcycle to crash.

Weaver said Ayoub was taken from the scene by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment where he later died.

In addition to state police, emergency personnel from Farmington Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette EMS responded to the crash.
