Police charge local man with rape

A Uniontown man is behind bars after state police charged him with raping a 46-year-old woman and sexually assaulted a child. Theodore Hardying Thomas III, 25, faces was charged by Trooper Timothy Kirsch after the alleged rape victim’s sister got in touch with police over the weekend. The woman who reported the alleged rape also told police that Thomas sexually abused a boy.

The Herald-Standard does not identify alleged victims in sexual assault cases.

The woman who reported the alleged crimes told police that Thomas raped the woman on March 16 and then sexually assaulted her again the next day.

Police alleged Thomas sexually assaulted the boy involved on Saturday.

When police took Thomas into custody at a home on South Mount Vernon Avenue on Sunday, Kirsch alleged that he had a bag of cocaine on him.

In the case involving the boy, Thomas has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

In the case involving the woman, Thomas was charged with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and rape.

He also was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine.

Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. arraigned Thomas on Sunday and set his bail at $60,000 straight cash. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr.
